Names for mermaid characters?

I'm writing a version of the Little Mermaid, but darker. I'm having trouble coming up with names for my mermaid characters, including the "Ariel" character. I need to make up names because, in my story, the mermaids are indeed an entirely different species than humans, just resembling them enough to be beautiful and handsome to humans. They don't speak English )or any other human language) behave more like very very very Intelligent animals than humans, and furthermore, only know some "legends" of the homely creature "Man" (which are frowned upon when talked about) and they don't believe humans exist at all. Indeed, they only have vague outlines of what humans are like from old, forbidden stories. So I can't have sparkly cutesy dootsey names like, "Starina" and "Areetella" or whatever. Remember, this a darkish version of the story, but not scary cheesey names like "Dorrlum" or "Vextaria" either please. Please help me, get creative, and thanks!
