What kind of bite starts to heal and then gets 4 smaller bites around it? (See photo.)?

This bite started out really small. I scratched it a lot (when I shouldn't have), and then began putting antibiotic ointment on it. It got bigger (with a white center and red circle surrounding it), swelled up, then the white overtook the red, and it began to heal (or so I thought). Now, 4 small bites (looking just like the original) have popped up around the outer edge of the original bite!
