What is the best method to apply Fabsil to canvas?

I have a folding camper with an awning that needs to be waterproofed. We have bought 10 litres of Fabsil with the intention of painting it on but we have never done it before and are wary of ing it up, this stuff is not cheap! Any tips or suggestions out there?
