A good outdoor/baby camera?

I have an Olympus digital camera that I like but it takes so long to take the picture you hold the on done and it is seconds before the picture snaps! I miss so many cute pics of all the babies! I am looking for a GOOD baby camera one that snaps pic quickly that have a good focus and clear pic. Me not knowing alot about camera has NO clue what to look for the camera I have is about a $350 camera that had all the bigger numbers as far as pixels and stuff like that so I thought it would be a good fast picture taking camera and it is not! Can anyone give me any suggestions but I can't afford a thousand dollar camera so something that will be in a price range that will not make my hubby stoke! Thank you!
